To celebrate her birthday we'll be throwing a Bubbles & Balloons party for Lola this weekend.
Lola chose the theme of her party and has been super excited about it for weeks. Ok, maybe months!
I've been working hard on party preparations the last few weeks and thought I'd share the invitations with you today. I'm really happy with how they turned out and I think they look great, if I do say so myself!
Sticking with the Bubbles & Balloons theme I decided to make a little cut out Lola holding onto an oversized balloon. Here's little Lola and her balloon hanging on our fridge.

The invitations took a little bit of hard work and a lot of cutting out but they turned out so cute it was all worth it. Cutting them out was quite fiddly and time consuming but once I got on a roll with the nail scissors it wasn't so bad. In fact, the hardest part of the whole process was probably trying to get Lola to pose nicely for the photos in the first place!
Lots of balloons and Lolas to cut out |
Cut out and ready to assemble |
I connected the little Lola to the balloon with striped baker's twine. I used a needle to poke a hole through the base of the balloon and the middle of (cut out) Lola's hand. It did feel a little weird poking the needle through the picture of my daughter's hand! Not as weird as the feeling of cutting off her legs for the party favours though! You'll see those soon.
With the twine threaded though the two invitation parts I then wrapped it around and tied a knot at each end.

Threading the needle through Lola's hand. Doesn't that sound horrible! |
I attached a flat stick on magnet to the back of the balloon so that guests can hang the invitation on their fridge.

And there she is. Little Lola and her giant balloon all ready to hang on the fridge.
Taking pride of place amongst the touristy magnets |
Going for a balloon ride? |
Lots more Bubble & Balloons Party posts coming soon.
