Halloween has been and gone for another year, and once again the girls had an absolute blast celebrating. If you're following Little Hiccups on Instagram then you would've already seen a few pics from our Halloween, but I thought it was about time I shared all the fun on the blog.
This year I managed to convince the girls to go with a group costume! I still can't really believe I managed to pull it off, and I'm sure it will be the last time that Ava agrees to dress like her little sisters, but I'm so happy with how my little Powerpuff Girls turned out! I mean, look at how cute they are in their costumes together!
With Halloween falling on a Monday this year it all felt a little strange. The girls went off to school as usual in the morning - although with slightly different hair for Ava (I sprayed it bright orange to go with her costume). Side note; Ava loved the orange hair and now wants to color it orange when the purple fades out. What do you think? With all her freckles I think she might even pass for a natural redhead!
After lunch time I spent some time in Lola's classroom working on Halloween crafts with the kids. The kids decorated mini pumpkins with beads, sequins, string and a lot of glue, plus they colored skull masks for Day of the Dead. Mathilde was my little helper and joined in decorating a pumpkin too.
After the kids worked on their Halloween crafts it was time for the school wide parade, so everyone changed into costumes. Mathilde had to join in with this too!
The school wide Halloween parade took the kids out of the school and around the block. As we walked past the local bakery there was a staff member there handing out skull and eyeball rings to the kids (definitely the highlight for Lola and Mathilde!). Back in the school yard there was another parade, grade by grade, so all of the kids could see each other's costumes. I always love how excited the kids get to see their peers dressed up. There were some pretty amazing costumes.
The school parade took us through to the end of the day for the Kindergarten kids who finish an hour earlier than the older kids. We grabbed some late lunch and treats, then headed back to school to pick up Ava.
Back home the girls had an hour to relax before we fixed up costumes and took photos, then made our way out to meet friends for an early dinner. Mathilde fell asleep in her stroller on the walk home from school and didn't wake up again until we were on our way to dinner so unfortunately I wasn't able to get a group shot of the girls at home. I did get some pretty cute shots of Ava and Lola though.
Oh, and here's a photo of me in my lame costume! I'm the Amoeba Boys, some of the bad guys from Powerpuff Girls. The girls wanted me to be MojoJojo, which admittedly, would've been a fantastic costume, however I didn't have time to make anything too complex. So flat, single cell bad guys it was! Note to self; wear lipstick next time so I don't look like a muppet!
Mathilde woke up from her nap on our way to dinner so we stopped by the girls' school to take a few group shots before it got dark. Look at those cute Powerpuff Girls together!
The girls were excited to see their friends all dressed up at dinner and couldn't wait to head out trick or treating with them.
Of course, as soon as we left the restaurant to start trick or treating the rain set in! Good thing I had an umbrella with me. It rained on and off for the rest of the evening. Each time the rain only last for about 5 - 10 minutes at a time, but the drops were quite heavy so the umbrella came out many times. By the end of the night it had also gotten quite cool so the girls had to switch to wearing raincoats instead.
Back home the girls were keen to go through their candy and see what they got. Do you think I could get one nice photo of all three of them looking at the camera? Not a chance!
I hope you all had a wonderful Halloween. What did your kids dress up as? I'd love to hear.
