First Day of School 2017-18

Yesterday was the first day back at school for Ava and Lola.

The Summer flew by so quickly. I swear we only just finished up school for last year, but here we are at the end of August and the start of a new school year already.

This year Ava is in 5th grade, her final year of elementary school. For the first time, she was nervous about the first day of school (due to not getting the class assignment she was hoping for) but she settled in just fine. I can't believe that this is her last year of elementary school. Next year I'll have three kids at three different schools!

Lola is in 1st grade this year which means she has moved from the kindergarten yard to the big yard with the rest of the school. It also means that she finishes at the same time as Ava which is fantastic as we've had two years of her finishing almost an hour earlier than Ava.

Mathilde will be starting pre-school next week so I'll have all three girls in school this year, although she'll only be there two days a week for now. To celebrate Ava and Lola being back at school Mathilde drew a few pictures of school buses on our walk. As you can see, they're rather abstract and even have a helicopter propeller on the top!

After school I treated the girls to gelato at Caravaggio, one of our favorite gelato stores in Berkeley.

 And then back at home there were beautiful fresh flowers for the girls.
