Women's March 2019

A few weekends back the girls and I took part in the 3rd annual Women's March.

In the past we've attended the march in Oakland but this year we decided to head into the city and march along Market Street in San Francisco. It has been super rainy in the Bay Area over the last couple of weeks but luckily the clouds parted and the sun came out (maybe a little too bright at times judging by the girls' squinting!) and we had a lovely day for the march.

We didn't take part in the rally that was held at Civic Center prior to the march, instead choosing to join in along Market Street. This actually worked out really well as we watched a fair amount of the march go past before we joined in. It was a great way to see some creative and inspirational signs and to cheer on our fellow marchers. I loved seeing what a mix of people took part in the march: women, men, children, people of all ages and races... It really was such an uplifting and powerful event.

After a while we joined in the march and made our way down Market Street to the Embarcadero.

We took a little break along the way for snacks and a drink at Joe & The Juice. This had been our go to coffee spot during our visit to Copenhagen a few years ago so the girls were excited to see the same store on Market Street (although I'm sure it has probably been there for years).

After our pit stop we continued on to the Embarcadero where the march ended in front of the Ferry Building. Shortly afterwards Market Street opened up to traffic again and these exhausted girls made their way back to Bart to head home.

Did you take part in the Women's March this year? I'd love to hear if you did!
