California Academy of Sciences has long been one of our favorite museums to visit in the Bay Area. With the addition of its new Dino Days exhibit the number one place has been locked in! You know we can't go past some good dinosaur fun!
Dino Days is a fun exhibit featuring five life sized animatronic dinosaurs that roar and move in a realistic way, a climb on t-rex that makes for fun photos, two dig sites for future paleontologists to practice their skills, and plenty of informative displays.
The animatronic dinosaurs are, of course, the main attraction. Visitors will find an imposing Tyrannosaurus Rex, an armored Edmontonia, a crested Parasaurolophus with her young, a pack of Troodons (sneaking up on the Parasaurolophus family - eek!), and a double horned Torosaurus.
The climb on T-rex makes for fun photos - and dinosaur hugs!
Fossils (both real and replicas) from the museum's archives are on display for visitors to explore. Touch a giant T-Rex tooth and marvel at the prehistoric treasures while museum staff answer all your dino related questions.
The two dig sites in the exhibition provide visitors that chance to play paleontologist. The kids had fun digging and sweeping away to discover dinosaur bones buried in the sand.
You know that I can't go past a good cheesy photo opportunity, and the terrifying T-Rex sure does make for good (or bad depending on your thoughts!) cheesy shots! My kids could probably work on their acting skills though!
Their Instagram poses, as Mathilde likes to call them, are spot on though - although Ava does look like she's trying to sell the "All new Torosaurus with new improved horns"! You'd buy one from her, right?
Dino Days is located in the East Garden but the dino fun continues in the museum itself with the towering Tyrannosaurus skeleton located in the lobby - which also makes for cheesy photos!
Dino Days is on display in the East Garden at California Academy of Sciences now through May 5th.
California Academy of Sciences is located in Golden Gate Park at 55 Music Concourse Drive, San Francisco.
