Luminova Holidays at Elitch Gardens

The holiday season is in full swing, and we've been busy getting out and about enjoying all that Colorado has to offer when it comes to holiday fun. Ok, well maybe not all of it because Colorado has a LOT of holiday fun to explore, but we've definitely been checking out all the best Colorado holiday events. I have so many to share with you, but today I'm sharing one of our favorites which is new to Denver this year.

Recently the kids and I visited Elitch Gardens to check out Luminova Holidays. You guys, it was so much fun! There was so much to see and do, and the best part was that we could go on the rides.

Let's take a look at Luminova Holidays...

As you can see, Luminova Holidays features millions of twinkling lights. There are light tunnels to walk through, light sculptures galore, a giant walk through lighted Christmas tree and snowman, walls of lights, and interactive light displays. The 200ft candy cane light tunnel was definitely a hit and we made our way through the twinkling lights many times. We marveled at the giant lighted tree and watched the twinkling lights through special goggles that made the lights create extra special shapes. We listened to carolers in Victorian garb performing holiday favorites underneath the giant tree. We hopped across an interactive display that lit up with each step we took. We walked through hanging lights that lit up all around us. We relaxed on lighted crescent shaped swings surrounded by thousands of sparkling lights.

The rides were definitely a highlight of our evening at Elitch Gardens. We've only ever been to the water park part of Elitch Gardens before, so the rides were all new to us - and what a magical way to experience them! Not all of the rides at Elitch Gardens are open during Luminova Holidays, but there are enough on offer to entertain the whole family. We took in the stunning views over the illuminated park and Denver from the Big Wheel. We spun around super fast on the Spider. We flew through the air on the Turn of the Century swings (my favorite). We slid back and forward on the Rockin Tug. We rode vintage horses on the carousel. The kids spun around and around on the Kid Spin. We also watched people more daring than us ride the Dragon Wing and the Sling Shot.

It was pretty chilly when we visited Luminova Holidays, so we warmed up with hot chocolate and hot apple cider. A hot festive beverage is always a must when checking out holiday lights. There were lots of other hot treats on offer too, but we ate at home first so we just got the hot drinks to warm ourselves up.

Last, but definitely not least, we visited Santa and told him what we'd like for Christmas. Mathilde's list is pretty long (and getting longer by the day) so she chatted Santa's ear off for quite some time!

We had such a fun time visiting Luminova Holidays at Elitch Gardens. If you're in the Denver area I definitely recommend adding it to your holiday fun list.
