Denver's most magical holiday event is back!
Blossoms of Light at Denver Botanic Gardens is one of Denver's most beloved holiday events.
The actual blossoms may be long gone for the Winter season and many of the trees may be bare, but there is plenty of color on display thanks to millions of twinkling lights that set the gardens aglow.
Let's take a look...
Visitors to Blossoms of Lights will find a world of wonder with light displays spread all throughout the gardens. A mile long trail leads visitors through the curated gardens taking in all of the sights. You'll find lighted tunnels, glowing orbs on frozen ponds, colorfully lit fountains, twinkling light sculptures, trees filled with colorful lights, a lantern filled atrium, a field of dancing lights choreographed to music, illuminations, and so much more.
With so many stunning light displays throughout the gardens, it's hard to narrow down a favorite area, but I'd say that the stand out installations to me were the knitted light balls, the glowing orbs that appear to float above the frozen Monet Pool, and the Amphitheater Finale with it's dancing lights across the open field.
I'm also quite partial to the glass solarium building pictured above. The light installations in the solarium are simple lanterns, but the reflections in the glass make for a spectacular display. Plus it's a really pretty building. In fact, I brought home an replica ornament of it to hang on my Christmas tree! You can find these in the gift store along with ornaments of the tropical conservatory.
Being Winter, the Botanic Gardens can be pretty chilly in the evening, so rugging up in Winter woolies is definitely a must. For extra warmth, festive hot beverages including hot chocolate and hot apple cider are available at both Offshoots Cafe and the Hive Garden Bistro. Both cafes also feature Winter treats and a full espresso bar.
When we visited last week there were only tiny patches of snow remaining in some of the garden beds, but having visited in the past right after heavy snowfall I can tell you that the lights look absolutely stunning in the snow. So if snow is forecasted for your visit just know that you're in for a treat!
Blossoms of Light runs nightly through January 12th 2025 (closed December 25th) from 4:30pm to 9pm.
Tickets start at $27 for adults, $22 for children (ages 3 - 15), and children ages 2 and under are admitted free of charge.
Timed entry tickets must be purchased online in advance at https://www.botanicgardens.org/events/special-events/blossoms-light. This event tends to sell out every year so make sure to book soon if you'd like to go. As of writing, December dates are mostly sold out but there is still plenty of availability in January.
Free parking is available in the dedicated parking lot across from the York Street entrance, however given the popularity of Blossoms of Light this does fill up very quickly. We've always had luck with finding street parking a short walk away in the local neighborhood.
The trail that leads visitors through Blossoms of Light is wheelchair and stroller accessible.
